Wales West Miniature Railway
|
Here at the Wales West Light Railway just one type of train wasn't enough, so we built two. Our 7.5 inch line parallels the two foot gauge railway. This miniature railway is all volunteer built and maintained by a dedicated and growing group of fun loving hobbyists. The track and facilities are open year round to hobbyists that like to visit and run their trains. The railway is also open to the public during scheduled miniature train steam-up events so children of all ages can experience the joy of riding on these little trains. |
|
The miniature railway host work weekends throughout the year. If you are a hobbyist or just a train lover, these weekends are a great way to meet and work with some real interesting characters. Whether you like to lay track, hammer nails, kill weeds, or drive a train we're sure we can find you something to do. RV sites are provided along with lunches at the train station and free train rides on our two foot line to volunteers during work weekends. Feel free to bring the whole family and have a quality time weekend. |

Our volunteer group has many skilled and knowledgeable members that have built a variety of locos and rolling stock. They are very willing to share what they know with anyone that has a question. The railway also has access to the Wales West wood, welding, and machine shops. These facilities are used by both railways and with prior arrangement hobbyists are allowed access to them. We also sell coal, valve oil, and feed water treatment in hobby sized quantities. |

The miniature railway hosts a total of three steam meets each year in the spring, fall, and winter. Hobbyists from all over the southeast bring their trains to our track for these week-long events. The miniature trains also run during special event weekends. This gives the parents and grandparents more opportunities to come out and enjoy these wonderful trains with their children. |
